About GMI:
Our Philosophy
At General Microsystems (GMI), our success rests on our 3C Investing philosophy. With 3C Investing, we focus our resources on three key areas: our company, our customers, and our community.
Company
Our company is always the first investment. That may seem selfish, but positive contributions to customers and community begins with the company having something of value to offer. The core of our company value is our people. Our talented team of professionals is well-versed in the products and services that we offer and the customers we serve. We ensure that they stay on top of the industry by offering and encouraging:
- Extensive internal and external training opportunities.
- A diverse workforce including ethnicity, age, and sex.
- Pride in excellence and world class customer service.
- Community service and lifelong learning.
We foster a culture that encourages our employees to grow and develop, participate in the world around them, and keep learning. We also invest heavily in our company, seeking new and creative ways to better serve our customers. We invest in research and education to find out what's new on the market and how they will best serve our clients. If a direct solution to a critical client issue is not available on the market, we will work with our partners to develop the solution. Our commitment to addressing unique needs keeps us investing in the knowledge of our team, the education of our clients, and the offerings of our company as a whole.
Customers
Though potential customers abound, we seek more than just companies looking for enterprise solutions. Like marriages, we believe that the best business relationships are based on common values and complementary assets. We seek partnerships with customers as well as employees and vendors who:
- Strive for excellence in everything they do.
- Value honesty and fairness.
- View customers, employees, and suppliers as partners.
- Cultivate long-term relationships.
- Pride themselves on customer service and expect the same from their partners.
- Invest wisely in people, technology, and information resources.
- Augment their core competencies with the knowledge of trusted advisors.
- Recognize the value of innovation and continuity.
- Negotiate for win-win outcomes.
We dedicate ourselves to the success of our customers. When our partners share in these core business values, we can provide the high integrity service that our business has been built on.
Community
Our involvement in the community strengthens everyone our customers, our vendors, our employees, our families, and our own lives. From the start, our employees have been active in the community, focusing on bringing education and technology to young people.
Founder and President Earl Overstreet co-founded the Washington Technology Association in 1983 to help minority and woman owned technology businesses compete for state contracts. Earl has been a speaker many times at local schools and programs in support of Business Week, Washington Opportunity Scholars, Boy Scouts, and Bellevue Community College "Connect to Your Future".
He has participated in the Northwest Minority Business Council for over twenty years and has served in a variety of user and alumni groups.
As an active participant in public policy and the local business environment, he contributed to public hearings numerous times in Olympia and Seattle on behalf minority businesses. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and the Case Western Reserve University Puget Sound Alumni Chapter. Both Barb and Earl taught free aerobics classes for a number of years at their local church.
We encourage community stewardship among our employees. Other GMI employees have received leave to volunteer at an AIDS clinic in Kenya and served on the boards of organizations such as Hopelink, Renton Technical College, and Therapeutic Health Services.
GMI supports community activities through participation, contributions, and sponsorships. A partial community list includes:
- Association of Washington Business
- Bellevue Chamber of Commerce
- Better Business Bureau
